My parents stumbled upon a message stating that we can figure out if anyone is spying on our calls by checking the call forwarding status on Android phones. The message stated that if one types *#62# on their phone, one can retrieve their call forwarding status and if there is a number listed there that you are unfamiliar with it means you are being snooped on.

On Airtel phones in India, you might notice that your calls are being forwarded to +91-9840095100. This however isn't as insidious as it seems. From what I understand the number is used by Airtel to send "missed call alerts" when your phone is unreachable and comes back online.
